Extension

Status

2021 - Completed

Located at the end of a dead-end street, the operation of this Nantes house is completely reimagined. The extension creates a living space directly connected to the garden, spanning the entire width of the plot. It takes the form of a parallelepiped, reminiscent of the Case Study Houses, linked to the existing structure by a patio preserving the existing outdoor staircase.

The renovation involves a new layout of the interior spaces, with the living room and kitchen occupying the extension. Large windows offer panoramic views of the terrace, while a green roof creates a harmonious continuity with the garden. The levels of the existing structure are reorganized for optimal use, transforming the first floor into a master bedroom and office, while the top floor under the attic is dedicated to the children. The entrance is redesigned for ground-level access from the street, while preserving dual indoor and outdoor circulation. The interior aesthetic highlights the imposing beams of the frame, while the vertical slatted wood exterior cladding dresses the garden-facing facade.
