The Domaine de Colpo is undergoing a profound transformation to become an exemplary site for sustainable tourism and heritage enhancement. Through the Atlas of Clearings, an evolving masterplan has been designed to coordinate interventions around a sensitive approach to the existing site. The project highlights the historic legacy left by Princess Élisa Napoléone Baciocchi, while integrating new uses that respect the environment and local dynamics: restoration of the castle and stables, creation of eco-designed buildings, nomadic accommodations, permaculture agricultural spaces, and discovery trails.
Organized around thematic “clearings,” the project reveals the park’s natural richness by alternating meadows, restored heathlands, forests, and built sequences. Each clearing hosts specific uses — events, wellness stays, educational farming — aligned with rigorous ecological management of the site. Special attention is given to preserving multi-century-old trees, carefully restoring built elements, and discreetly integrating new constructions using bio-based materials and low-impact energy solutions.
The result of a collective effort, this masterplan was developed during on-site residencies gathering architects, landscape architects, urban planners, and environmental experts. Together, we analyzed, debated, and envisioned a project closely linked to the terrain, to build a shared and realistic vision for the domain’s future. This collaborative approach ensures the relevance of proposed choices and their capacity to evolve over time.
Conceived as an attractive hub radiating throughout Morbihan, the domain is envisioned both as an ambitious overall project and through a series of more targeted interventions and renovations. The restoration of existing buildings — the castle and former stables — is accompanied by the integration of new programs (accommodations, reception rooms), while new structures such as greenhouses or lodges enrich and diversify the estate.
Today, the project is under development…
